Semble helps people discover communities, coordinate plans, and communicate with other members.
Information we collect
We collect account information you provide through Apple, Google, or phone sign-in; profile details such as your name, photo, bio, city, neighborhood, and interests; and activity you create in Semble, including memberships, RSVPs, side quests, invitations, reports, blocks, and messages.
If you enable notifications, we store a device push token and notification preferences. If you upload an image, we store the image and technical information needed to deliver it.
If you allow Semble to use your location, we use it once, in the foreground, to work out which neighborhood you are in so we can rank nearby communities. We keep the neighborhood name; we do not keep the coordinates, we do not share them with other members, and we never track your location in the background.
If you choose to check your contacts, phone numbers are scrambled (hashed) on your device before they are sent. We use those hashes only to find existing members and then discard them. We never receive or store your address book — no names, no email addresses, and no phone numbers. You are only findable this way if you have separately turned on "let friends who already have my number find me", which is off unless you turn it on, and which you can turn off again at any time in your profile settings.
Optional calendar access
If you connect Google Calendar, Semble requests read-only access to your calendar list and events to find upcoming outings. This is separate from Google sign-in. We process calendar entries temporarily and do not store unselected events or Google account details through this connection. We keep only an encrypted refresh credential while you stay connected. Events you select and confirm are added as Semble plans. Semble never adds, changes, or deletes anything in your Google calendars.
You can disconnect Google Calendar at any time from the calendar import screen. Disconnecting revokes Calendar access with Google and removes the stored credential. If Google is temporarily unavailable, the app asks you to retry. Deleting your Semble account also removes the stored credential.
How we use information
We use this information to authenticate you, provide and personalize Semble, show activity to the communities you join, deliver notifications, prevent abuse, investigate safety reports, maintain the service, and comply with law.
How information is shared
Your profile and activity are shared according to the privacy and community settings shown in the app. We use service providers for hosting, file storage, authentication, push notifications, and SMS delivery. We do not sell personal information or use it for third-party behavioral advertising.
Retention and deletion
We retain information while your account is active and as needed to operate and protect Semble. You can permanently delete your account in the app under You → Account → Delete account. This removes your profile, memberships, messages, RSVPs, notification data, and uploaded media. Limited records may be retained when required by law or necessary to protect users from fraud or abuse.
Your choices
You can edit your profile and privacy setting, control notifications in your device settings, block or report another member, or delete your account. You may also contact us to ask about your information.
